Shell MYSELLAŽ Oils

Shell MYSELLA Oils are ash free, dispersant crankcase oils for use in engines fueled by natural gas. MYSELLA Oils provide excellent oxidation stability and engine cleanliness while protecting engine parts against scuffing and wear. Being ashless, they do not contribute to combustion chamber deposits, which can cause spark plug fouling and preignition. Nor do they contribute to turbocharger blade deposits, which lead to reduced efficiency and increased maintenance. MYSELLA Oils also meet the phosphorus requirements of exhaust gas catalytic converter manufacturers.

Shell MYSELLA Oils are recommended for all 2- and 4-stroke cycle gas fueled engines for which the manufacturer does not specify an ash type oil. Typical installations are in gas transmission, total energy plants, electric power generators, chemical plants and various engine applications.*

NOTE: * Applications involving potentially sour gas should be reviewed for the possible need for an ash type oil.

Shell MYSELLAŽ LA Oils

Shell MYSELLA LA Oils are low ash natural gas engine oils made with select base stocks and carefully chosen additives to insure optimum performance.

Shell MYSELLA LA Oils are formulated to produce both SAE 30 and 40 grades without the use of Bright Stock. The absence of Bright Stock, coupled with excellent resistance to oxidation, helps prevent undesirable piston undercrown deposits. The use of highly effective detergent/dispersant additives also helps to keep piston skirts and ring belt areas clean. MYSELLA LA's low carbon forming tendency helps maintain heat transfer capabilities of pistons and rings.

Shell MYSELLA LA Oils are recommended for both 2- and 4-stroke engines that do not call for ashless type oils. The level of ash in MYSELLA LA meets the needs of 4-stroke engines that require some ash for added protection of valves and valve seats.

Engine applications involving sour gas, hydrogen sulfide and other corrosive components may, if present in significant amounts, require oils having higher levels of alkaline protection.

Shell MYSELLA LA Oils are formulated to optimize antiwear performance. Limiting the phosphorus content to below 300 ppm helps to meet the needs of catalytic converter manufacturers, while providing supplemental protection of critical parts.

Shell MYSELLAŽ MA Oils

Shell MYSELLA MA Oils are medium ash gas engine oils. They are made from high quality Neutral base oils and a premium medium ash system of additives.

Shell MYSELLA MA Oils are available in SAE 30 and SAE 40 viscosity grades, neither grade contains Bright Stock base oils, thereby contributing to improved engine cleanliness and reduced carbon forming tendencies. The medium ash additive system provides a level of detergency, dispersancy and alkalinity not available in oils with a lower quality additive system or having a lower ash level. This level of quality is evident by the API CD performance achieved in the MYSELLA MA Oils.

Shell MYSELLA MA Oils are formulated to meet the requirements of exhaust gas catalytic converter manufacturers. The phosphorous level in MYSELLA MA Oils is less than 300 ppm.

Shell MYSELLA MA Oils are recommended for two- and four-cycle engines that do not require ashless oils. MYSELLA MA Oils have particular application in four-cycle engines that appreciate ash-containing oils to control valve wear in the valve face and seat and valve stem areas.

The higher basicity and detergency of Shell MYSELLA MA Oils can provide improved performance and longer oil life in severe operation or in engines operating with fuels containing sour gas, hydrogen sulfide or other corrosive components.

Shell 8122 Gas Engine Oils

Shell 8122 Gas Engine Oils are medium viscosity index oils recommended for 2-stroke cycle gas fueled engines and moderately turbocharged or naturally aspirated 4-stroke cycle engines. These ash type dispersant oils help increase oil filter life, while combating piston ring sticking and lacquer formation. The phosphorus level of Shell 8122 Gas Engine Oil meets the requirements of catalytic converter manufacturers. The naphthenic content of their base stock mixture helps prevent port plugging in 2-stroke cycle engines.

Shell 8122 Gas Engine Oils are also suitable for use when low levels of hydrogen sulfide or sulfur are present in the fuel.

Although the premium performance Shell MYSELLAŽ product line (MYSELLA, MYSELLA LA or MYSELLA MA Oils) are preferred in most instances, Shell 8122 Gas Engine Oils can be an economic alternative in many applications. They can be desirable alternatives in 2-stroke cycle engines such as Clark, Cooper-Bessemer, Fairbanks-Morse and Worthington. They are also acceptable for a variety of engine applications including Waukesha, Superior, and other 4-stroke cycle gas-fueled engines.
