All AEROSHELL Greases, with the exception of AEROSHELL Grease 14 and AEROSHELL Grease 33, are formulated with MICROGEL® thickener, a high temperature, non-melting inorganic thickener.
In aircraft applications, the type certificate and/or lubricants recommendation charts of each aircraft will usually specify the military specification for the grease to be used for the various lubrication points on that aircraft.
Applications of AEROSHELL Greases
AEROSHELL Grease 5: For wheel bearings and engine accessories that operate at high speeds and relatively high temperatures.
AEROSHELL Grease 6: General purpose airframe grease for use in plain and antifriction bearings and gearboxes. Provides good water resistance and has low noise capabilities.
AEROSHELL Grease 7: Wide temperature range, synthetic, multipurpose grease for highly loaded gears and actuator screw mechanisms. Also recommended for instruments and general airframe lubrication of turbine powered aircraft.
AEROSHELL Grease 14: Leading helicopter multipurpose grease. Thickened with calcium soap. Protects against fretting and provides ample water resistance. approved by the USDA for use in meat and poultry processing plants where there is no possible contact between lubricant and edible product.
AEROSHELL Grease 16: Wide temperature range grease recommended for antifriction bearings that operate under heavy load at high speeds and extreme temperatures.
AEROSHELL Grease 17: Extreme pressure version of AEROSHELL Grease 7. Contains 5 percent molybdenum disulfide for use in highly loaded conditions.
AEROSHELL Grease 22: Versatile synthetic hydrocarbon multipurpose grease. Excellent load carrying capacity. Useful temperature range of -85°F to 400°F.
AEROSHELL Grease 33: Developed to meet the stringent requirements of the BMS 3-33 specification for use on Boeing airframe components. It is formulated with a lithium complex thickener system in a synthetic base oil blend.

Shell ALBIDA LC Grease is a multipurpose, lithium complex, extreme pressure grease. Its high dropping point and excellent mechanical stability make it suitable for high temperature applications, as well as for use in heavy duty automotive and industrial equipment.
Shell ALBIDA LC Grease is an excellent grease for lubrication of automotive chassis points and wheel bearings. It is also effective for lubricating trucks, trailers and construction equipment under shock loads.
ALBIDA LC Grease is qualified under NLGI LB/GC for all automotive applications including chassis and wheel bearings on cars with disc brakes.

Shell ALVANIA Greases are superior industrial greases that use a lithium 12-hydroxystearate thickener and highly refined base oils. They are rust inhibited greases which have excellent mechanical stability and oxidation resistance. They are intended for applications such as sealed-for-life bearings where durability and long life are desired.
NLGI Grades 1, 2 and 3 are designed for multipurpose industrial applications that call for a premium soap based grease. In addition, NLGI Grades 1 and 2 are approved by the USDA for H2 use in meat and poultry processing plants where there is no possible contact between lubricant and edible product.

Shell ALVANIA Grease D is a mixed lithium/calcium soap thickener and all HVI base oil that provides exceptional mechanical stability. It is specifically designed for use in railroad car journal roller bearings which are not to be lubricated in the field. ALVANIA Grease D meets specification M-942-88 of the Association of American railroads (AAR), and it is approved by the AAR for use in interchange service.

Shell ALVANIA EP Greases contain a combination of extreme pressure and other additives to give increased load carrying properties. They have excellent salt water protection and anti-rust properties.
Shell ALVANIA EP Greases are available in NLGI Grades 0, 1, 2 and 3. They are recommended for both on- and off-highway equipment, construction equipment and industrial applications that require extreme pressure protection in heavy or shock loading conditions.
Shell ALVANIA EP Grade 2 is also available in 14 ounce cartridges.

Shell Cotton Picker Grease is a lithium soap based grease that is available in NLGI Grade 00. This product meets all the requirements of the John Deere JDM-360 specification.

Shell CYPRINA RA Grease is an NLGI Grade 3 lithium soap grease that is specifically designed for use in diesel electric locomotive traction motor bearing lubrication. This grease provides excellent mechanical stability and long service life.
Shell CYPRINA RA Grease is approved by both EMD and General Electric. The properties of CYPRINA RA Grease also recommend it for use in prepacked antifriction bearings that are intended for lifetime service without relubrication.

Shell DARINA Greases are premium industrial greases for use where temperature resistance, oxidation stability and rust inhibition are important, but where extreme pressure requirements are not critical. They are made with non-melting MICROGEL® inorganic thickener in NLGI grades 0, 1 and 2.
Shell DARINA Greases 1 and 2 are approved by the USDA for H2 use in meat and poultry processing plants where there is no possible contact between lubricant and edible product.

Shell DARINA AX Grease is a premium quality, multipurpose automotive grease. Its outstanding resistance to water wash-out makes it an ideal grease for wheel bearings and chassis points that operate in wet conditions.
Shell DARINA AX Grease is recommended for all automotive applications, such as passenger cars, trucks, tractors, buses and construction equipment. DARINA AX Grease may be used for chassis lubrication, wheel bearings, water pumps and other general purpose grease lubrication.

Shell DOLIUM R Grease is a premium, long life grease made with a non-ash organic (polyurea) thickener and highly refined high viscosity index base oils. It provides outstanding lubrication performance for antifriction bearings in electric motors, generators, alternators and similar high temperature applications in industrial plants. Truck fleet operators have also found superior performance with DOLIUM R in water pumps and fan hubs.

Shell OSSAGOL V Grease is a calcium soap based, semi-fluid grease with no additives or fillers for use in railroad rail and flange lubrication. Its semi-fluid consistency (NLGI Grade 000) makes it suitable for use in locomotive mounted dispensing systems.
Shell OSSAGOL W Grease is a premium rail and flange grease with a MICROGEL® thickener. It has extreme pressure load carrying properties and a tackiness additive for superior retention properties.

Shell PT (Post Tensioning) Coating Grease is a lithium soap based grease that is specially formulated for the post tensioning construction industry. It protects against the effects of corrosion by adhering to metal cables and shielding them from moisture and air.
Shell PT Coating Grease meets or exceeds the Post Tensioning Institute (PTI) specifications for use as a corrosion preventive coating for unbonded, single-strand tendons in corrosive service.

Shell RETINAX AM is a multipurpose lithium soap grease with excellent anti-rust (even in the presence of salt water) and extreme pressure properties. It is also fortified with 3% dispersed solid lubricant, molybdenum disulfide. It is recommended for all grease-lubricated equipment where heavy loads are present and temperatures are not excessive. It is well suited to off-highway and industrial equipment.

Shell RETINAX HD Greases are made with premium mixed soap thickeners (lithium and calcium), heavy base oils, tackifiers and selected additives. The selected additives give RETINAX HD Greases excellent EP/load carrying ability, oxidation stability, rust protection and metal surface adherence. RETINAX HD is recommended for industrial, mining and construction applications where high mechanical stability and outstanding water washout properties are needed.

Shell RETINAX LC Grease is formulated for the severe requirements of heavy duty truck service. It is made with a lithium complex thickener for high temperature performance, oxidation stability and excellent water resistance. RETINAX LC, dyed red for easy identification, is suitable for lubrication of wheel bearings, chassis, king pins, universal joints and fifth wheels. It provides excellent oxidation stability for long life.

Shell SUPER DUTY Greases are lithium soap based greases that contain 1% molybdenum disulfide ("moly") for added lubricity and wear protection. They also contain polyethylene for film strength durability. SUPER DUTY Greases are formulated for construction equipment.
