Shell CARNEA E Oils are highly refined medium viscosity index (MVI) mineral oils with low natural pour points. They are economical oils for non-critical light and medium duty applications similar to those of VITREA® Oils. CARNEA E Oils are suitable for general purpose lubrication of bearings and lightly loaded gears -- particularly those with "once through" oiling systems, or where residence time is not long due to leakage loss.
Shell CARNEA W Oils are highly refined medium viscosity index (MVI) mineral oils with low natural pour points. They are recommended where service temperatures are moderate and where long service life is not required. CARNEA W Oils are suitable for general purpose lubrication of bearings and lightly loaded gears -- particularly those with "once through" oiling systems, or where residence time is not long due to leakage loss.
Shell CLAVUS Oils are formulated from high quality medium viscosity index (MVI) oils that are characterized by their low pour points (-25 to -35 °F). They are excellent choices for the lubrication of ammonia refrigeration compressors and some air compressors.
Shell CLAVUS Oils are also suitable for the lubrication of bearings and gears where the residence time due to leakage is not too great and system operating temperatures are not too high.
Shell CLAVUS AB Refrigeration Oils are formulated from the highest quality alkylbenzene base stocks. They are recommended for service where evaporator temperatures may be lower than -50°F and where improved performance and reliability is desirable.
Shell CLAVUS AB Refrigeration Oils offer the following performance benefits:
Shell CLAVUS AB Refrigeration Oils may be used in all refrigeration compressor types - including reciprocating, centrifugal and rotary types, using fluorocarbon refrigerants such as R12, R22, R114 and R502, as well as ammonia, in both Industrial and Marine applications.
Shell CLAVUS HFC Refrigeration Oils are required for the newer HFC refrigerants which are now mandated for all new refrigeration units. They are specially developed for systems using the most popular CFC, R-134a refrigerant gas and all other CFC type refrigerants. The newer CFC refrigerant gases present miscibility problems with all other types of refrigeration oils. Thus, all refrigeration equipment manufacturers must switch to this type of refrigeration oil. They may also be used by service facilities that want to consolidate to one refrigeration oil because they are compatible with the older chlorine containing refrigerants such as R-12 and R-22.
Shell CLAVUS HFC Refrigeration Oils are available in one gallon and five gallon containers because care must be exercised in handling these oils to prevent the absorbtion of moisture.
Shell CORENA K Oils are premium quality compounded compressor cylinder lubricants. They are recommended for use in separate cylinder lubrication systems where wet or solvent type gas is being compressed. CORENA K Oils contain additives that resist wash off by wet gases, hydrocarbon gases (such as propane or butane), and organic chemicals (such as aldehydes or ketones). CORENA K Oils are available in two ISO viscosity grades: 100, for pressures below 1000 psi, and 460, for higher pressures. These oils should not be used in compressor crankcases.
Shell CORENA P Oils are developed from premium quality mineral oils for use in stationary or mobile reciprocating air compressors. The unique formulation used in these oils meets or exceeds the requirements of compressor manufacturers' specifications for lubricating oil. CORENA P Oils offer superb demulsibility, anti-wear properties and protection from rust and corrosion.
Shell CORENA P Oils are designed for use in all reciprocating air compressors. Applications include single- and multi-stage units with trunk or crosshead pistons. They may be used as crankcase oils for units with a separate cylinder lubricator, or as system oils for combined crankcase and cylinder lubrication systems.
Shell CORENA P Oils allow much longer service between compressor overhauls, since they leave minimal carbonaceous deposits on compressor valves and in air discharge systems. They also help overcome the seal compatibility and cylinder wear related shortcomings of some synthetic based lubricants.
Shell CORENA S Oils are formulated from turbine quality, paraffinic base oils. The high performance of these oils is enhanced through the use of high quality additives that are carefully selected to provide long service life, excellent oxidation stability, and protection from rust and corrosion.

They are formulated with the highest quality PAO base stocks and the most technologically advanced additives. This series is intended for the lubrication of rotary vane, rotary screw, reciprocating and centrifugal air compressors where fluids of these viscosities are recommended.
Shell MADRELA AS Oils:
Shell MADRELA AS Oils are fully compatible with petroleum oils, elastomers, paints and seals found in compressors. The combination of oxidation stability and low pour points make these products applicable over a wider temperature range than mineral oil based products. The low pour point allows startup and rapid fluid circulation at lower temperatures. These features have proven to reduce maintenance costs and extend service life.
Shell MADRELA AS Oils greatly reduce the danger of compressor/air line fires and explosions that can result from the use of mineral oil based lubricants. These serious threats are greatly minimized through the use of MADRELA AS Oils, since they possess much higher flash point and autoignition temperatures. These oils also greatly reduce the formation of deposits on the internal components of compressors. MADRELA AS Oils are recommended in those compressor applications where the manufacturer recommends the use of PAO based fluids.

They are formulated with the highest quality diester base stocks and additives available. These products are intended for both crankcases and cylinders of air compressors where fluids of their viscosities are recommended.
Shell MADRELA P Oils exhibit outstanding oxidation and thermal stability, reduce varnish, carbon and sludge deposits, have excellent antiwear and rust preventive properties, extremely low volatility, low pour points, and high viscosity indices. They also offer high flash and fire points. These features have been found to extend service life, reduce oil consumption and lower maintenance costs The combination of excellent oxidation stability and low pour points make these products applicable over a wider temperature range than is possible with mineral based oil products. The low pour points allow startup at lower temperatures and very rapid fluid circulation.
Shell MADRELA P Oils greatly reduce the danger of compressor/air line fires and explosions that can result from the use of mineral oil based lubricants. These serious threats are greatly minimized through the use of MADRELA P Oils, since they posses much higher flash point and higher autoignition temperatures than mineral oil lubricants. They also reduce the formation of deposits on the internal components of compressors.
Shell MADRELA P Oils are recommended for use in fluorocarbon, Viton, Teflon, fluorosilicone, polysulfide and high nitrile Buna-N elastomer applications where the manufacturer recommends the use of diester based fluids. They are not recommended for use where neoprene, natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR, Buna-S), or low nitrile Buna-N seals are present. Before converting to MADRELA P Oils, it is advisable to check with the equipment manufacturer for information about the compatibility of elastomeric components with diesters.
Shell MALLEUS Compound is a viscous, adhesive lubricant for open gears, bearings, wire rope and cables that are operated under extreme load and temperature conditions. MALLEUS Compound is an asphalt/mineral base blend with selected additives that provide longer service life to gear machinery. The high viscosity of the oil provides a superior lubricating film with high load and low wear characteristics. Additives for protection of surfaces from rust, oxidation and chemical corrosion are blended into the mineral oil base.
Shell MALLEUS Compound is designed to lubricate heavily loaded gears that run at low speeds. These gears can be spur, bevel, spiral bevel, helical, herringbone, worm or rack and pinion. They can be made of steel, cast iron, bronze or other alloys. Lubrication of wire rope and cable systems in steel mills, offshore construction and other industries requires the strength of MALLEUS Compound to coat and protect as well. MALLEUS Compound does not contain chlorinated solvents, thereby minimizing toxicity and air pollution problems.
